Bon Odori 2007

Firstly, I would like to thank my friend who reminded me about this event. I almost forgotten! After missing last year’s edition, I tell myself that next year I’m gonna participate, and my wish fulfilled. Yesterday, me with my colleague and jdorama fan club member attended Bon Odori in Shah Alam. It was a happy and enjoyable experience!

To understand Bon Odori festival further, I did some research over Wikipedia:

Bon Odori (盆踊り, meaning simply Bon dance) is an event held during Obon. It is celebrated as a reminder of the gratefulness one should feel toward one’s ancestors. While O-bon (お盆, O-bon) or only Bon (盆, Bon) is a Japanese Buddhist holiday to honor the departed spirits of one’s ancestors. This Buddhist festival has evolved into a family reunion holiday during which people from the big cities return to their home towns and visit and clean their ancestors’ graves. Traditionally including a dance festival, it has existed in Japan for more than 500 years. It is held from July 13 (August 13 according to the lunar calendar still observed in many regions) to July 15 (“Welcoming Obon” and “Farewell Obon” respectively) in the eastern part of Japan (Kantō), and in August in the western part.

So Bon Odori actually is a very respectful event. But in Malaysia here, it is less associated with Buddhism and more with Japanese culture. I read through a forum thread that the thread started said that Bon Odori is something like Cheng Meng festival of Chinese, so please “no cosplay, no gothic lolita, no harajuku style watever”. So, I still can see many people wear like that. I saw one girl, wear like a barbie doll! hahaha, notable her shoe is like soft cushion oh my god! Somemore hanging a “pet” behind. Plus a gang of youngsters wearing like Dir En Grey or Nightmare style.. well i think is kinda exaggerated but thats quite ok for me! Celebration of Japanese culture influence whey!

I arrived the event at 5.45pm i think, and the field is already full with people! This event is still popular as usual. We were given a fan each. Walking through the grass field, I can see many Japanese families wearing traditional clothes, and many girls in colorful yukata. Honto ni kawaii desu ne!!

Remember last 3 years I came this event, I ate nothing. That is so dumb. So this time, I’m gonna take opportunity to try some of the Japanese food! Firstly, Japanese ice-cream. I purposely choose the 雪見だいふくby Lotte because I watched this product before through a CM by Yuko Ogura. It looks delicious and special in CM, it shows that the “skin” that wraps around the ice-cream, is stretchable. I choose the strawberry flavor and starts trying it. When i poke into the ice-cream with a stick that provided, it breaks…. I stone for a while becaue the feeling was different on what I saw on the CM! Cheh.. maybe the fridge is not cold enough.. nevermind. While my friend bought a matcha icecream. Wow, it taste great and full of matcha feel! Now thats better!

Next, me and my colleague go and try the Unadon (鰻丼). It says “Grilled unagi with sushi rice” which costs RM12. Pretty expensive but it taste good! We also bought Asahi beer along with the rice. After that we walked around to hunt for more, then we saw a kawaii yukata girl promoting Japanese bread. She is very cute, wanted to take picture with her, but i missed it. After I help my friend bought the sausage, she went back behind the camp rest and start doing what a normal Japanese teenager do: super-quick SMS typing. Aiya, zannen!

After that, tan_pang and BSY arrived. We meet up and woot! the event starts. People gathered around the center stage and the dancing starts! As usual, it has a total 3 rounds of dancing with four different dances each and it was exhausting! Oh man.. I need to do more workout.. It was a fun and tiring experience. In the middle of the resting time, tan_pang go try the Udon, and he said not bad. Maybe because he ate the udon, he became so brave and asking a kawaii pink yukata girl to take photo with us! Subarashii tan_pang, yo yatta! Geng ah.. maybe next time I need to be that brave as well. Yosh!

Finally, the event ended at 9.30pm, and the performers on the stage start waving their hands and bowing and saying “ARIGATOU GOZAIMASHITA!” The crowd responded “KOCHIRA KOSO!! MATA RAINEN NE!” I’m enjoying this event and hope that I will come again next year.. with a better camera :P!!

Below are some of the pictures I took, please have a look thanks!

Ayumi Hamasaki – Glitter/Fated

4 days later, Ayumi Hamasaki is going to release her first single in 2007 – Glitter/Fated. It’s been a year since her last single and I am very looking forward on this. I already listened to this song a month ago and I think it is very nice! I think is one of her best work in few these years after some “experimental” attempts. This was like the old time Ayumi style which I like it a lot! Glitter is very up tempo while Fated is emotional ballad. But this is not all. What makes me want to buy this single is the PV of Glitter and Fated.

Distance Love – a short film

Instead of conventional music video footage, Glitter and Fated is actually shot in a short film sequel. The film was taken in Hong Kong, and a HK star Shawn Yue (余文乐) was also in the video too. The setting is Ayumi comes to HK to promote her single while Shawn Yue as the charming bodyguard.

Shawn helps Ayumi escaped from dangerous situations several times and she falls in love with him. Shawn loves her too, but he knows that this love is not gonna comes true. In the final scene, Ayumi is wearing a wedding dress and run to their destination but unfortunately Shawn was caught in accident and rushed to hospital. Ayumi starts to cry……

This is not the first time Ayumi did something like this. Remember Vovage? It also has a 40 min short film called “Tsuki ni Shizumu“. The story taken in ancient Japan, and is about love between girl (acted by Ayumi) who will be sacrificed to the moon and a warrior. Finally they did not get together, similar to glitter/fated. I bought the video too, hahaha, rare one! These kind of PV makes me like Ayumi even more! 😀

Otanoshi mi desu ne! From her official website, it says that “Distance Love” will be aired exclusively via World Wide Web on the 26th of July. Be sure checking the film and watch this place as I will put up the lyrics. Thanks!

Update: Lyrics added. And recently a shocking news that everyone should already knew that Ayumi was decided to ended up the 7 year couple relationship with Tomoya Nagase. She said that they already became brother-sister relationship rather than lover. Best wishes for her and good luck in the future! We will support ya, Ayumi! Ganbatte!

GReeeeN – Ai Uta

I first heard this song over Animax’s Music Station last week, so I give myself a try to listen to it, and I think it is a nice song! GReeeeN (Hide, navi, 92 and Soh) is a four member Japanese group from Koriyama city in the Fukushima prefecture. They made their debut with Universal Music in 2007. Currently they are the medical students in University which intended to become a dentist. Due to this, they did not show their faces during group activities.

GReeeeN’s debut song “Michi”, the lyric is simple and meaningful, plus the strong melody captured many hearts of youngsters. They are very good in writing the truth to your love one’s heart kind of lyric, accompanied by beautiful melody which makes their songs a truly great one. Everyone that heard GReeeeN’s song will start to think of their love ones, automatically.

A song of confession

While this song “Ai Uta”, is a song that supports you to go confess to the girl you like. In the limited edition, there is a “Special Gift Package” which the CD jacket acted as love letter, together with a pen and envelope. With this, a person can write the message on the letter and give it to the person he or she wants to. Then they can listen this “Ai Uta” together and shares the moment. How romantic wasn’t it? The PV of this song is very touching too!! Besides that, this song once gets 2nd spot in Oricon Single Ranking and now still in the chart. Plus this song been downloaded 1,800,000 times. SUGOI!

GReeeeN logo

Actually not just the song is nice, their logo is nice too. Because they study dental course, this reflected in the logo too. The “greeeen” word resembles the teeth, I think the four “e” means the 4 members, together with a shiny star. Cool. Read more to listen to the song with lyric.

Yui Aragaki the Next Rising CM Queen

According to recent reports, the new generation female artists that get commissioned the most as product spokesperson by various Japan companies are, Sawajiri Erika, Nagasawa Masami and Yui Aragaki. When a company search for product spokesperson, they will look “scandal making possibility” as one of the important factors.

Sawajiri Erika is popular for her many scandals, so this will makes her difficult to move further more. While her top rival Nagasawa Masami has no movies or dramas that is really popular that can represents her. Masami has many works like J-drama “Proposal Daisakusen” and movie “Nada Sousou”, but that’s not enough to create hit wave unlikely Erika’s “1 litre of tears”.

Gakky Attack!

Tokito Saburo – Kimi no Kaeru Basho

I would like to recommend this song to all of you. This song is sang by Tokito Saburo with just acoustic guitar as music. Firstly, I heard this song from drama “Hanayome to Papa“. This song is very warm hearted, expressing the love of a father to his lovely daughter. I feel comfortable while listening to it. Some part of song was duet with his daughter, which make this song even touching.

Hanayome to Papa is talking about relationship of father and daughter. The father was very strict to her daughter by setting some rules like “Cannot stay overnight outside house”, “Must reach home before 7” etc. The daughter felt her father was very “UZAI” and want to stay away from father’s hand. But in the end, is the father who help her all the way. No matter what happen, is parents who love their kid the most.

Read more to listen the song (via imeem) and the lyric. Enjoy! 😀

Crop Circles goes 3D?

Recently I read the newspapers about a new crop circles appeared at Wiltshire, UK. Report said that this circles was unique because it has 3D elements in it. Because the pics at newspapers does not clearly shown how 3D it was, so I go to Internet to check and “wow”! It was really 3D! It depicts a corridor-like graphic, and the vanishing point is at the center of the circle. More angles here.

I had been fascinated about crop circles since small. It was something like mystery mix with inspiration, mind-boggling creation. The mysteries of crop circles was still remained unsolved, although I watch several documentary about crop circles are actually made by human. But, from the old circles, now actually some of them is very huge and mathematically precised superb beauty circles! I wonder human actually can do that? Some more is have to do it overnight (prevent being catched)? Who knows.

Below are some collections of crop circles. If you ask me which I like the most? Yes. It’s the first one below: the great Milk Hill crop circle.

3 Ultra High Res Transformers Pix.. & more!

Hi everyone, here are the 3 ultra high resolution of 3 transformers model rendering – Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee and Megatron, thanks to a friend of mine who provide the source. Those three pictures are really high res, at least 4500px, so might make your computer slow while viewing it.

Yesterday, I watched the movie too. I think the movie is not well made… too much parody’s from other movies like Independence Day, Armageddon, Matrix… and even the chasing scene in front looks like trailer footage of “Need For Speed Most Wanted”. There is just a little adrenaline rush in this movie, the special effects scene was too short and in the end there, the robot fight scene is total chaos. I give it a B-.

Not to say disappointed but it can be better. I think this story was like celebration of web technology. Ebay, Youtube-like scenes, Witwicky (heard like Wikipedia) and the Optimus Prime said “We learnt this over the World Wide Web”. Haha. But, the art of transformers are wicked!
