Go to the Top, Please

In many websites with lengthy content, one very common features is by providing a “Go to top” button at the end section of an article for users to quick access to the top of the page, without using the scroll bar. This can be achieve easily by using a very simple anchor link that targets the top area of the web page. Cool and straight forward.

Well, actually I saw some really cool “Go To Top” approach which makes the experience a lot better. All you need to do is by adding some Javascript goodness into it. I will show you some real world examples and plugins to achieve the effect. Now, going to top has never been this good!

As a Web Designer, one thing that I really need to thank is the news resources and articles that provided by various Web Designer blogs from all of the world. From there, I am able to expose myself to the latest trends and practices to make a better websites. News and articles like essential CSS skills, awesome jQuery plugins or cutting edge Photoshop techniques, we can’t just get enough of that! But there’s an issue. In the modern Web Design, the implementation of a grid system is getting popular and become a common practice, thanks to the 960.gs and design pioneers like Khoi Vinh. With grid system, designers are able to lay out the structures in a more refined way. However, these grid guidelines are normally invisible on the design output. But I found that there are some websites that has visible grid lines as part of the design.

When talking about pink, we will have certain perception towards this lovely color, for example pink is a feminism color, a general color that represents female, spring season (cherry blossom!), breast cancer awareness etc. I really like pink, because I think women in pink are really cute! The common characteristics of Japan web design

The common characteristics of Japan web design

As you guys might have know, I’m a Japan design lover. I really like their sense of design in architecture, product as well as web designs. I always go and search inspiration from Japanese Web Design directories, and through out the years I found out that their designs are unique and having a few common characteristics which I would like to share it to you guys today.

After a few hours of mind-map and research, I categorizes the common characteristics into nine different categories with two web screenshots as example.
