Japan is one country that really loves ranking. One of the ranking that I want to share is the latest edition of “Scholar Idol Ranking” which rank the current hottest top 100 female idols in three age categories: Under-25 (U-25), Under-20 (U-20) and Under-15 (U-15). From the chart shows that Aoi Miyazaki, Yui Aragaki, Narumi Riko crowns the top spot of each category.
This ranking basically reflects on how active one idol’s in that particular year, how much exposure and the popularity gain that she received. For example, an idol who breaks out in many fields like commercial, movie, music, or even sports will likely getting higher rank than other who is not. There are so many idols in Japan and getting the top 100 is no easy job. Congratulations who entered the chart and let’s check out who is in.
Under-15
Let’s start from the youngest group U-15. Many popular Japanese idols starts their career during early life, so this group is like representing the future stars of entertainment industry, but there is some U-15 idols that already display outstanding talent, for example Narumi Riko and Shida Mirai who took the first and second spot. From the chart, we can see that not only artists or gravure idols, sportswomen also included notably Maria Sharapova in 92th spot. The champion in this group, Yui Aragaki was well deserved because not only active in drama and movies, she also debuted as a singer with debut album “Sora”. She is a busy girl! Here is the eldest group, Under-25 category. This is the group where I know the idols the most, almost half of the 100. The top 10 was dominated by idols who concentrated on acting, however popular “forever young” gravure idol Yuko Ogura get the 9th spot. Aoi Miyazaki who recently became the youngest main actress in NHK drama crown the top spot, while Sawajiri Erika gets second spot.
