Recently I stumbled upon this cool blog yanajun.com which contains the portrait illustrations of popular Japanese artists who acted in the drama series. It already has quite a big collection of illustration and the portraits looks really good and very close to the real person!
The owner of this blog, who has the same name as the website, Yanajun is a currently single man and his working profession involves manga and illustration. His hobby is watching dramas and tv shows so he has this idea of concentrating on illustrating the artists who appear in the dramas.
According to Yanajun, he use approzimately 2-3 hours to complete a portraits illustration. From the beginning, he uses pencil to sketch down the outline of the artist portrait, then use pen and finally water color and color pencil to finish an illustration. But sometimes he uses computer drawing software like Painter to do the touching instead. You can see the drawing process by clicking this link.
Below are some illustrations done by him. You can go to his blog to see more. The post header picture from left to right is Takeuchi Yuko, Kamenashi Kazuya, and Ayase Haruka. While picture below from left to right is Mikami Hiroshi who acted as cupid in “Proposal Daisakusen”, my most favorite drama of 2007. While the middle is Mizukawa Asami, and on the right is “Chiaki senpai” Tamaki Hiroshi.
I really like his portrait illustration, because I am a big fan of Japanese drama too. Well done Yanajun! Keep up the good work! 😀 Many artists were drawn by him and can you spot your favorite artists portraits?
